    Overview

Our Facilities department is hiring an HVAC Technician!

As an HVAC Technician with Larimer County's Facilities Management Department, you'll keep our employees and the public safe and comfortable. You'll take on the challenge of installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems that meet the unique needs of Northern Colorado's climate, from extreme temperature swings to high-altitude performance.
Your role goes beyond just fixing things - you'll ensure our systems run efficiently and sustainably, all while meeting local building codes and environmental standards. Whether you're diagnosing mechanical or electrical issues or working with clients to optimize indoor air quality, your problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and friendly approach will make a real difference in our County buildings.

    Responsibilities

    What you'll be doing:
    • Maintaining, repairing, and optimizing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across county facilities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
    • Performing preventive maintenance to maximize system efficiency and lifespan.
    • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
    • Responding to service requests in a timely and effective manner.
    • Installing and upgrading HVAC systems in compliance with county standards, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
    • Monitoring and adjusting automated control systems to ensure optimal performance.
    • Maintaining accurate service records for all HVAC-related work.
    • Collaborating with other county staff to prioritize energy efficiency and sustainability in HVAC operations.

    • Proven experience in commercial or industrial HVAC systems, including working with automated building control systems and energy-efficient technologies.
    • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex HVAC issues promptly and efficiently.
    • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and operating in varying weather conditions.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with county staff and communicate effectively with supervisors and clients.
    • Knowledge of energy-efficient practices and a commitment to reducing environmental impact through HVAC operations.
