Job Summary The Student Services Specialist provides students with quality assistance by conveying clear and concise information, advice, and service on a wide range of complex academic policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities - Analyze, process, and update transactions for students, including cashiering, in support of Enrollment Services activities.
- Respond to inquiries by accessing on-line information and utilizing reference materials to assist customers with policies, procedures, and fees related to Enrollment Services activities.
- Cross-training assignments and other duties as assigned within Enrollment Services.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities The individual possesses strong customer service skills, effectively representing Enrollment Services and the University in a dynamic environment. They can clearly explain complex policies and procedures to diverse audiences, relay and clarify information efficiently, and maintain cooperative relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public. They demonstrate empathy, fairness, and professionalism, ensuring data integrity and operational continuity. Their ability to communicate with diverse populations, coupled with experience in data entry and information retrieval, supports their collaborative approach to achieving team goals and influencing decisions through effective communication and relationship building.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Education and Experience • Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.
• Cashiering experience preferred.
Physical Summary - Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,505 - $3,680 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,505 - $5,159 per month.
Benefits Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Time Base 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
