  • Job Description

    Role

    Under general supervision, performs duties in auditing, coding, posting, and reporting all department revenue and refunds.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Audits, codes and posts daily revenue from all programs and sites.
    • Audits and imports data into accounting systems.
    • Backs up other accounting staff when needed.
    • Establishes and monitors electronic transfers of funds.
    • Prepares monthly revenue and banking reports.
    • Processes refunds. Requests replenishment for the refund bank account.
    • Monitors "Petty Cash" account and requests replenishment.
    • Reconciles the department's bank accounts.
    • Sets up monthly CERs and bills assigned grants.
    • Reviews bi-weekly payroll.
    • Prepare time study documentation from payroll system for Grant CERs.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:
    A minimum of two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping or related experience.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
    Must possess a current fingerprint clearance card Issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:
    • Government accounting, budgeting, and auditing principles and practices..
    • County and Department Policies and Procedures as applicable.
    • Software applications related to this position.
    • Proper application of Yavapai County department revenue codes, fund numbers, and contract fiscal years to ensure the proper posting, filing, and reporting of all revenue and expenditures.
    • File maintenance procedures and practices.
    • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    • Clerical office practices and procedures.
    • Research techniques and report writing.
    • Current Microsoft Office software.
    • Filing and recordkeeping.

    Skill in:
    • Basic mathematical functions
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.

    Ability to:
    • Work with minimum supervision on assigned duties after training is complete.
    • Seek new and better methods to perform duties.
    • Demonstrate willingness to cross train with other accounting team members to ensure a steady, accurate paper flow.
    • Establish and maintain computerized filing system, prepare and maintain financial records, and follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
    • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
