    Job Overview

    Under general direction of the Director of New Student & Family Programs, the incumbent will provide program planning, structure, and leadership on the development, implementation, and assessment of programs and services for the New Student and Family Programs area of the Dean of Students office. New Student and Family Programs includes First-Year Student Orientation, Transfer Student Orientation, Family Orientation (English and Spanish speaking), Weeks of Welcome programs, Family Programs, Orientation Team Leadership Program, New Student Transition Support and co-curricular support of additional initiatives involving new students at CSUSM, including Residential Learning Communities. Supervises the Student Orientation Directors (Student Assistants) and the Orientation Team Leaders (currently volunteers). Interacts with individual students and their families, student employees, and volunteer leaders, and collaborates with university faculty, staff, and administrators. The Coordinator will have independent responsibility for handling a variety of complex and sensitive issues related to students, faculty, family members, program structure and processes, as well as urgent situations related to Orientation. The incumbent will plan and implement programs and initiatives based on CAS standards, best practices and, campus assessments and student feedback.

    Coordinator of New Student and Family Programs (Student Services Professional III)

    This is a full-time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

    Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,540 - $6,000 per month

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 - $7,893 per month

    Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

    This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

    This position is required to work in person on campus.
