Summary:
Duluth Public Schools is seeking an individual to provide perform a variety of skilled painting and related tasks, such as preparing surfaces for painting, in the District's schools and facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:- Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or a GED, and at least one year of experience as journeyman painter or at least four years of experience as an apprentice painter training under a journeyman; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the work.
- Various materials, brushes, tools and equipment used in the painting trade.
- Methods used in applying paint to various surfaces.
- Paints, varnishes, lacquers, and other similar products.
- Ability to operate aerial equipment such as motorized equipment platforms, articulating booms, and boom trucks.
- Ability to perform drywall repair and finishing, as well as plastering.
- Sandblasting and waterblasting with different types of media such as sand, baking soda, and so forth.
- High-pressure steam cleaning.
- Wallpaper applications.
- Laying out and painting stripes on various surfaces.
- Ability to judge the proper paint requirements for all types of surfaces.
- Ability to distinguish colors and shades.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information:- Employees shall be paid an additional forty cents per hour for all hours worked between the hours of 5 pm and 6 am. In lieu of shift differential pay during their kunch period, custodians will recieve and extra 2.5 cents per hour that is included in their salary.
Medical/Prescription Drug Plan with Health Reimbursement Arrangement:- Single Coverage - District pays 100% of premium (FREE) + contributes $2,612.50 into HRA annually
- Family Coverage - District pays 75% of premium (25% employee contribution) + contributes $5,225.00 into HRA annually
- Single Coverage - District pays 100% of Basic premium (FREE)
- Family Coverage - District pays 25% of Premium
- District provides minimum of $50,000 of life insurance at no cost, employee may purchase supplemental life insurance
- District-provided at no cost to employee
- Employees may elect to contribute on a pre-tax basis to Health Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Accounts
- The District contributes 7.5% of your total salary in the Public Employees Retirement Association pension plan
- Employees may also elect to participate in Tax-Shelter Annuity options.
- Each bargaining unit contract defines time off provisions such as holidays, sick/personal leave, vacation, etc.
