    The Position

    Child Care Facilities Surveyors conduct independent surveys of child care facilities, child welfare emergency shelters, educational facilities, and facilities serving emotionally disturbed children to determine compliance with State licensing regulations (NRS 432A) and to make licensure recommendations.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    Childcare Facilities Surveyor performs the duties described in a series of concepts to maintain an approved full-time work schedule, complete timely Inspections per NAC and NRS 432A. Incumbents complete complaint investigations per NAC and NRS 432A. The Surveyor will ensure and enforce facility compliance with NAC and NRS 432A. They will also assist and participate in community comprehension of the licensing process. Incumbents participate in multidisciplinary agency collaborations as needed. Incumbents communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Incumbents maintain relationships with collaborating agencies, staff, and providers. The incumbent will also complete reports timely and accurately, attend meetings and training courses as required. Incumbents travel as needed per position, assist in other work-related projects as directed by the Agency Manager, Program Manager and Supervisor.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood development, education, social work, or closely related field and one year of professional experience providing developmental or educational services to children in an early childhood program which must have included program administration responsibilities; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood development, education, social work, or closely related field and one year of professional experience evaluating child development or early childhood education programs; OR one year of experience as a Child Care Facilities Surveyor Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
