    A Sr. Professional Engineer job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services department. The City of Fort Worth Development Services Department's Transportation Development Services section is seeking a Sr. Professional Engineer to serve as a Project Manager to carry out the overall review of plans for developer-initiated projects.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
    • Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as a registered professional engineer, of which two years must be related to capital improvement and/or infrastructure design/review of private development projects.
    • Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment.
    • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas driver's license.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Preferred candidates will have a working knowledge and experience with Accela
    • Knowledge of and expertise with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Municipal Government experience
    • Performance measurement experience
    • Office management abilities
    • Supervisory/ Lead experience
    • Interpersonal Skills-Attributes like Self-Management, Accountability, and Responsibility, Listening, Problem Solving, Verbal Communication
    • Knowledge of transportation design manuals, including MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, PROWAG, and other geometric roadway design manuals.
    • Knowledge of ITE trip generation manual and different land uses

    The Sr. Professional Engineer job responsibilities include:
    • The successful candidate will use their knowledge of the general concepts of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering to undertake the responsibility of supervising and coordinating all project activities and resources related to the design and construction of public infrastructure pertinent to private development
    • Provide appropriate direction to the developer's engineer in the proper course of action necessary to bring their design into suitable compliance with the City's standards and specifications
    • This candidate will assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
    • Monitor work activities; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures
    • Continuously monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness of development review through the use of performance measures and manage projects as needed.
    • The candidate must be able to work within very tight time constraints and have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, the ability to work independently under the direction of a Senior Capital Projects Officer, and good oral and written communication skills.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
