Position Summary
San Diego State University seeks a seasoned leader with deep administrative and academic experience to serve as its next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs (provost).
Founded in 1897 as a teacher college, and a member of the California State University system since its inception in 1960, SDSU has grown to become a leading public research university while deepening its commitment to education. As the second-ranking officer at SDSU and reporting directly to the president, the provost will play an integral role in the continued elevation of the institution, especially as it builds out new programs and facilities at its newest campus sites and fully realizes its impending R1 status. The provost will provide strategic leadership and vision to the divisions of Admissions & Enrollment Services, Academic Colleges, Analytic Studies and Institutional Research, Curriculum, Assessment and Accreditation, Faculty Advancement and Student Success, College of Graduate Studies, International Affairs, University Library, and Resource Management. The provost should bring a spirit of partnership, collaboration, transparency, and passion to build upon SDSU’s achievements in education, research, and service.

The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the challenges facing public higher education and ideally have experience working at a complex public higher education institution. Compensation and Benefits
San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that includes:

- Retirement security through a CalPERS defined benefit pension and retiree healthcare benefits

Anticipated hiring range: $360,000-$389,292 annually
