  • Job Description

    Requirements

    Education and Experience: Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, Political Science, Technical Writing, Journalism, Communications or other related fields and two (2) years of work experience performing administrative support to elected officials, military officers, board of directors or other high ranking executives in the public or private sector.

    Licenses and Certificates : Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

    General Purpose

    Under general supervision, provides administrative support for City Council members including program or project coordination, research and analysis of data, problem and dispute resolution, and preparation of newsletters, reports, and neighborhood communications for a City Representative.

    Typical Duties

    Provides City Council members general support and assistance on administrative matters and special programs or projects initiated by City Council members. Involves: Perform investigative and analytical work in researching administrative systems, policies and practices. Coordinate studies with other City departments, governmental agencies, business organizations and civic groups.

    Prepare and present reports containing results of investigations and recommendations for meetings, speeches and correspondence. Involves: Participate in locating grant resources and writing applications, and drafting ordinances, resolutions, and other documents for internal and public distribution. Attend and participate in meetings and community functions to represent the district as authorized. Perform related incidental duties contributing to realization of unit or team objectives as required. Involves: Substitute for coworkers as qualified and within authorized limits by carrying out specified functions to maintain continuity of ordinary services of district representative's office, if delegated.
