    Position Overview:
    This position will require existing knowledge and experience of telecommunication/electric/gas network strategies, construction plans, and engineering related documents for conformance with Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations and initiatives. This includes experience in various right of way governing entities such as Federal, State, Railroad, County, and City permitting, temporary traffic control, and right of way restoration requirments. Position will identify, document, and communicate plan deficiencies and/or conflicts to internal and external customers, using Microsoft Office products, internal GIS application and enterprise case management software. Position will participate in the phasing, scheduling, estimating, and coordination of complex right of way utility relocation projects, in order to preserve project deadlines, public mobility, project schedule, and budget.

    Travel:

    The Capital Delivery Services Department is comprised of multiple facilities located throughout Austin. If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Record Evaluation you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    Hybrid Work Environment:

    The City of Austin Telework Program is designed to empower employees and leaders to establish hybrid work arrangements that promote high levels of performance and engagement. The City of Austin has an established work arrangement under which an employee is scheduled to work at least 2 days per week at their designated worksite. Some positions may require additional time at their designated worksite.

    90 Day Provision for Additional Vacancy:

    Pay Range
    $32.23 - $40.29
    Hours

    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


    Review plans and permits under the supervision of a professional engineer and development proposals for impacts, and performing preliminary and final designs and/or prepares design criteria for assigned projects. Provides a variety information to customers by contacts of personnel to include inter and intra departmental administrative, engineering and construction personnel, other government agencies, contractors, consultants and the public to exchange information, coordinate work, answer questions and respond to complaints. Responsible for progressively complex projects by preparing cost estimated and engineering and feasibility reports and studies, projects, and assigned programs Inspect and monitor projects for legal compliance by reviewing work completed by contractors and monitoring compliance to specifications. Prepares contract documents, technical specifications and plans. Prepares and monitors project and program schedules and budgets. Prepares progress and final reports and estimates. Manage and coordinate special projects Supervises and/or leads a design team in the preparation of preliminary and long range plans, schedules, estimates, budgets, detail final construction plans, specifications, special conditions and agreements. Oversees project progress from design through construction. Assist and/or write specifications by performing preliminary and/or final designs, prepares design criteria for assigned projects in appropriate discipline. Perform equipment evaluations to ensure valid results. Conduct field investigations to ensure compliance of specifications, reviews work for accuracy and recommends approval of contract changes.

    City Government
