    Position Description

    The School of Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track or tenured position with an open rank (12-month) with the appointment starting preferably in Spring 2025.

    The Position

    This open rank position is for Family Nurse Practitioner faculty and Program Director. The assigned academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The MSN-FNP program is a hybrid format with primarily asynchronous courses, virtual simulation, and periodic on-campus meetings. The School of Nursing is in the process of converting the FNP program from MSN to DNP.

    The 12-month, tenure-track or tenured position requires hybrid teaching, program administration, research or scholarly activity, committee service, and ongoing clinical practice as an FNP. There are requirements to be on-campus for set educational, administrative, and school obligations.

    FNP Program Director Responsibilities r
    • Serve as a leader, ambassador, and representative for the CSUDH FNP Program.
    • Partner with the Associate Director of Graduate Programs, DNP Director, program faculty, and staff in the day-to-day workings of the FNP program.
    • Accountable for the FNP education program including quality curriculum design, instruction in the didactic and clinical courses, and continued program accreditation..
    • Engages in program recruitment, admissions, orientation, accreditation processes, and program assessment to include serving on committees essential to the FNP Program.
    • Monitors ongoing student progression, provides student advisement, and facilitates remediation and student success.
    • Oversees and participates in the clinical placement of students.
    • Updates policies, procedures, handbooks and other FNP Program materials.
    • Participates in the selection, assignment, development, and monitoring of FNP Program faculty and assists in recruitment of part-time faculty.
    • Conducts regular meetings with FNP faculty, assists with on campus meetings for health assessment and clinical courses.

    Faculty Responsibilities
    • Course management, teaching, FNP content expert, conducts simulations, test writing and analysis, and student formative and summative evaluation.
    • Initiate communication with preceptors and assess clinical sites.
    • Participate in scholarly and academic activities appropriate to rank.
    • Direct patient care practice that can be maintained on a limited part-time basis
    • Committee service for the School of Nursing and college/university.


    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications
    • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed the doctorate by the time of appointment. If the doctorate is not in nursing, a master’s degree in nursing is also required.
    • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
    • Unencumbered California RN license or ability to obtain licensure prior to the appointment.
    • Certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a nurse practitioner or ability to obtain certification prior to the appointment.
    • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience within the last 5 years as a FNP.
    • A minimum of 1 year academic experience, within the last 5 years, teaching in a registered nurse or graduate nursing program.
    • Effective and accurate/precise communication skills, including both written and verbal communication.
    • Knowledge of curriculum and curriculum development.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing educational trends, technologies, and student needs.
    • Experience in working with students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in program management, including curriculum refinement and student progress.
    • Online teaching experience.
    • Uses student success and remediation strategies.
    • Accreditation Experience.
    • Knowledge of nurse practitioner education standards and guidelines (including NTF/NONPF, AACN Essentials, CCNE and BRN).
    • Evidence of scholarship/research activities and scholarly, peer reviewed publications

    The anticipated hiring salary range for this position is $ 9,000 to $ 12,500 per month. Please see anticipated hiring salary ranges for the specific classifications below:

    The Assistant Professor (12-month) classification salary range is $7,127 to $ 15,211 per month (12 monthly payments per year). The anticipated hiring salary range is $9,000 to $9,300 per month.

    The Associate Professor (12-month) classification salary range is $7,830 to $16,697 per month (12 monthly payments per year); The anticipated hiring salary range is $9,600 to $9,900 per month.

    The Professor (12-month) classification salary range is $9,883 to $17,490 per month (12 monthly payments per year); The anticipated hiring salary range is $12,200 to $12,500 per month.

    This position will be commensurate with experience and current CSUDH faculty salaries in the academic department/discipline. Faculty salaries are subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Summer research grants, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
