    Pay Range: 26.57/hr. - $29.89/hr.

    $2,000 Sign-On Incentive: 50% paid on the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after 6 months of employment.

    Workdays & Hours: 24/7 Operation - weekend work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

    Water Field Operations Crew Leader positions are available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department / Field Operations Division in Water Distribution. The Field Operations Division is a 24/7 operation and the largest division of the Water Department and an integral function of the maintenance of the City of Fort Worth’s infrastructure. These positions are essential to the daily operations of the division and an integral role in the department's success. The ideal candidate/s will be responsible for supervising employees responsible for various construction, maintenance, and repair activities related to the assigned section. Provides operational oversight and direction for utility crews performing installation, maintenance, repair, and upkeep duties for water and wastewater assets. Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures. Performs technical and complex tasks related to assigned area of responsibility within the utility.

    This Position qualifies for the following incentives which is separate from the base pay:
    • $2,000 Sign-On Incentive: 50% paid on the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after 6 months of employment.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED certification
    • Minimum of four (4) years of responsible water and/or wastewater experience performing field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities
    • Currently in possession of TCEQ Water Distribution C license or higher is required.
    • Currently possess a Texas Commercial Driver’s - Class A CDL license with an acceptable driving record is required.
    • Must be able to work in outdoor extreme weather conditions and lift to 100 pounds
    • Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, and background verification.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • At least one (1) year of previous supervisory experience
    • Knowledge of work order management software
    • Possess a TCEQ Class B license or higher
    • Previous experience working with a large water utility

    The Water Field Operations Crewleader job responsibilities include:
    • Prioritizes, assigns, leads, reviews and participates in the work of subordinate employees responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater assets.
    • Ensures proper installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, wastewater mains, valves, manholes, vaults, hydrants, pumps, taps, and other related water and wastewater assets vital to the distribution and collection systems.
    • Investigates and inspects distribution and collection systems for leaks, breaks, and malfunctions.
    • Provides on-the-job safety training and role-based technical training to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Explains communicates, and demonstrates proper, safe, efficient, and effective work standards.
    • Compiles operational information and drafts reports and paperwork related to daily and routine operations.
    • Maintains a safe and compliant work environment. Ensures effective integration of multiple role-based crews, employees, and functions which include the use of hand tools, small machinery, advanced technology, and heavy equipment.
    • Responds to various emergencies impacting the effective and safe operation of the distribution and collection systems.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
    • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations
    • Participate in personnel training and work with subordinate personnel to correct deficiencies.
    • Prepare reports concerning operations and activities.
    • Assist in responding to and resolving public inquiries and complaints.
    • Confer with customers regarding problems and assist as needed

    Medical Program

Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward.
