    (Job #544423) Administrative Support Assistant (ASA I) I, Live Scan/UPD Assistant, Salary Range: $3680-$4517. This is a part-time, benefited, non-exempt, 12-month pay plan a one-year probationary period in Department.     Position Summary:

    Under the work lead direction of the Lieutenant, the Live Scan/UPD Assistant is responsible for assisting and organizing the Live Scan operation. This includes initiating and completing live scan services at the UPD front counter/customer service area, as well as providing customer service to the general public and campus community.

    This position also independently performs a full range of support work related to program and policy research, analysis, and development, in conjunction with the Chief’s Assistant.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assistance with Coordination & Maintenance of Live Scan Operations
    • Support Live Scan services, including scheduling appointments, answering phones & emails, and data entry.
    • Performing fingerprinting services, including data entry, physical fingerprinting, and processing confidential information.
    • Maintain Live Scan records including applications, bills and reports.
    • Provide customer service and follow-up assistance to Live Scan applicants.
    • Assist the Chief’s Assistant with Live Scan services & payment policies and procedures, including some data analysis and research, as well as updates to current policies.
    • Train UPD student assistants in processing and performing Live Scan services.


    Assistance with UPD Front Desk/Customer Service & Polices/Procedures
    • Ensure the UPD Front Desk operates during the business week to provide lost and found property services, share campus information with students, staff, faculty and visitors, and process bike registrations.
    • Assist the Lead Dispatcher with UPD Front Desk services, including updating policies and procedures.
    • Provide basic Front Desk procedural & policy training to UPD student assistants.


    Other Duties as Assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Associated with this Position Include:
    • Basic knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies and procedures.
    • Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
    • Ability to use standard office equipment.
    • Ability to use standard word processing and related computer software packages.
    • Ability to identify and solve standard problems and refer more complex problems to appropriate staff.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
    • Fundamental writing and presentation skills to effectively communicate standard information.
    • Ability to respond to routine inquiries and explain standard policies and procedures to others.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School Diploma or GED

    Basic administrative support experience within an office environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience operating a live scan/fingerprinting system and working with confidential and sensitive information.

    Demonstrated customer service experience.
