Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation with an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to Business Administration, Public Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field,
OR - Two (2) years of experience in the U.S. Military Services, airport operations, or another airport related field.
OR - Any combination of education and work experience may substitute for the above minimum qualifications.
- Any of the above, plus two (2) years of experience conducting direct secured area entrance activities as an authorized security representative of an airport operator with a complete airport security program as described in C.F.R. 49 1542.103.
Licenses or Certifications: - Must be able to obtain AAAE Ace Security Certification or Airport Security Coordinator Certification within sixty (60) days of hire.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.

POSITION OVERVIEW Conduct airport security compliance inspections and audits. Conduct employee/tenant training and outreach programs. Respond to, investigate, document, and initiate corrective actions for violations of Airport Security Program. Perform lead role responsibilities as needed for Airport Agent and Airport Access Control Technician personnel.
Must be able to successfully pass Airport Security Coordinator certification within 60 days of hire.
Demonstrated work experience serving as a security Authorized Representative of an airport operator in conducting personnel, merchandise, or vehicle inspections in compliance with CFR 49 Parts 1542.103 and 1542.201.
ASSESSMENT A skills assessment will be required for this position.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA .
This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the
City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS CHECK The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following.
