DescriptionCharleston Center is accepting applications for an Account Technician. This position will work within an established Accounts Receivable team to provide day to day support in a healthcare setting for the agency’s medical and clinical staff by ensuring accurate billing to third-party insurance payers, client accounts and other major payers.
HIRING HOURLY: $21.66 - $22.98Continuation of employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding from service, program, and agency earnings. OPEN UNTIL FILLED; APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELY Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position will be responsible for all facets of generating and processing client accounts : including determining client’s financial status and setting up correct pay status in the billing system, monitoring, identifying, and resolving claim errors, generating billings for clients and claims for health insurance companies, posting payments and processing Explanation of Benefits from Medicare, Medicaid, and other private health insurance companies, adjusting client accounts accordingly. This position is highly customer services oriented, providing significant contact with patients about billing, insurance processes, and interactions with programs and clinicians by training them on the client management system and correcting errors in posting or scheduling. Knowledge of HIPAA and legal guidelines is strongly required. This position interacts with third-party billing companies on a regular basis, and processes requests and follow up resolutions in a timely manner.
Minimum QualificationsAssociate Degree in Business or related field preferred, supplemented with three (3) years’ or more of experience in Accounts Receivable , or any comparable combination of education and experience. Ability to read and understand medical terminology, medical claims procedures and payer regulations requirements preferred. Previous experience in Medical Office Billing and Coding desired.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesApplicant must be a self-starter and possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, good math skills , the ability to use a calculator and maintain effective working relationships. Excellent computer skills a must. Valid SC driver’s license is required.
