  • Job Description

    The City of Weatherford is hiring for a Communications and Marketing Coordinator!

    Under the direction of the Director of Communications and Marketing, this position will support the creation and implementation of communication and marketing initiatives designed to create and maintain effective communication and a favorable image for the City of Weatherford. Below is a summary of job roles and responsibilities:
    • Create, edit, and optimize communication and marketing material and messaging.
    • Develop, implement, and manage social media outreach plan and content.
    • Craft fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, articles for local newspapers, news releases, and other promotional materials including the City’s internal and external newsletters and the City’s annual report. Disseminate information to the general public and City Management.
    • Maintain City website(s), including current news, documents, photos, links, and any updates and requests from all City Departments.
    • Serve as the City’s Videographer/photographer. Create and edit video content for the City’s website, cable channel, and social media.
    • Maintain relationships with other City departments and identify opportunities for collaboration on programs, events, and/or newsworthy or community enriching items.



    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field AND two (2) years of experience progressive experience creating news releases and marketing materials OR any combination of training and experience leading to the described level above. • Exceptional proficiency and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva products, including video-editing software. Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator a must. • General knowledge of municipal government and its functions preferred. • Must live within 30 minutes of the City limits for unforeseen emergency situations. • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment. Driving record must meet or exceed guidelines set forth by the City.
