    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

    Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.

    Positioned within the Network Services area of the Office of the CIO in Carson City, NV, this role requires incumbents to manage and secure Cisco network switches, routers, firewalls, Meraki switches and access points, and other networking equipment under direct supervision. Responsibilities include participating in the drafting of network security policies, standards, and procedures for agency and partner agencies. The role also involves serving as a network analyst and network security analyst for the agency and partner agencies, conducting internal security reviews of networking equipment, and administering network management software and servers as necessary. Additionally, the position requires interfacing with customer agencies to address trouble tickets, design and administer network and network security solutions, and troubleshoot network issues. The position also includes responsibilities for designing, installing, supporting and maintaining video conferencing systems, ensuring high-quality audio and video communication for remote and on-site participants, and troubleshooting any issues related to video conferencing equipment or software.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements Some positions are subject to call-out or call-back. Some positions require specialized certification that will be identified at the time of recruitment. Some positions require statewide travel. Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
