This role is responsible for case data entry, preparing and processing legal documents, and sharing information with the court and other criminal justice agencies. The position also provides confidential administrative support to the Diversion and Juvenile teams and may occasionally assist Problem-Solving Court staff.

An ideal candidate is comfortable with communication, training, and taking initiative. Success in this role comes from enjoying multitasking and working as part of a team.

This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week, but Legal Assistants are expected to be available during trials, so periodic flexibility will be required. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After a 90-day probationary period, staff may be given a telecommuting option 1-2 days per week.

Applicants must upload a cover letter addressed to Cherie Jurkofsky, Legal Staff Manager.

    Responsibilities

    Specifically, this position:

    • Provides confidential support to legal staff by drafting, preparing, and verifying documents, including reports, motions, and subpoenas.
    • Manages calls, responding to general inquiries and complaints; routes complex issues to appropriate staff.
    • Coordinates legal activities with judicial, penal systems, and other agencies.
    • Maintains attorney calendars, schedules meetings, and prepares agendas and materials.
    • Prepares summaries, conducts research, and organizes case files for trial.
    • Schedules screening appointments and maintains records for new cases.
    • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of incoming documents, ensuring deadlines are met.
