    Love managing the fine print? We’re looking for a Media Buyer to join our team and take the lead on executing strategic media buys, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring flawless delivery of our communications content across diverse platforms.

    What you’ll do:
    • Lead media buys for advertising and marketing campaigns.
    • Approve and process invoices in line with campaign budgets.
    • Oversee accounts payable/receivable, ensuring accurate reconciliation and reporting.
    • Organize and coordinate the logistics for timely placement of advertising across multiple channels.

    This position is considered FLSA Exempt. Exempt employees are salaried and, except as provided, are not eligible for overtime compensation.

    This position has been designated as a Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and supports activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.
    Pay Range
    $30.70 - $38.37

    • Knowledge of City of Austin procurement processes and tools (Maximo, eCAPRIS, eCOMB, Procards)
    • Familiarity with media buying strategies for crisis communications, especially relevant in the utility sector during outages or emergency events
    • Demonstrated experience working for an electric or publicly owned utility
    • Experience maintaining department task order lists, requesting new ones or retiring the old ones as needed
    • Proficiency coordinating, managing department subscription agreements (publications and cloud-based software solutions)
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Oversees advertising and marketing media buys. Coordinates and tracks asset creation, edits, approval, and delivery between staff and vendors. Negotiates terms and conditions of advertising sales contracts. Reviews and approves payment of invoices for contracted services for payment processing within payment and budget cycles. Organizes all logistics related to the timely placement of advertising and marketing content on the contracted channels, platforms, and venues. Reviews, approves, and reconciles accounts payable and accounts receivable activities for assigned programs. Develops, maintains, and monitors goals, objectives, added value, spending, and budgets for advertising and marketing programs. Identifies and monitors advertising opportunities, maintains vendor inventory information , and updated media kits. Develops and maintains relationships with media sales representatives to stay informed of latest advertising packages and opportunities. Coordinates production of marketing materials within budget and timelines.

    City Government
