    Job Summary

    The City of Olathe is looking for someone who enjoys driving a bus and wants to help people get from place to place around the city. Come join a dynamic team at the Olathe Community Center, where you can make a difference!

    The Bus Driver is responsible for providing assistance and customer service while transporting program participants using a variety of vehicles, including buses. Transportation may be for regular route operations, charters, and private carriage and it may require assisting passengers with baggage, collecting fares or tickets.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Inspects vehicles, and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure to ensure safe operation; makes minor repairs to vehicle and changes tires.
    • Drives vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules in order to transport passengers, complying with traffic regulations; reports delays or accidents; advises passengers to be seated and orderly while on vehicles; regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
    • Parks vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board and may assist with luggage and other passenger needs.
    • May collect fares or tickets; records cash receipts and ticket fares and handles according to established procedures.


    Qualifications

    Experience: Six months to one year related experience is required.

    Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Licenses & Certifications: A valid Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and a favorable driving record are required.
