    Position Summary

Join San Diego State University as a Development Operations Analyst, where you’ll provide invaluable support to the AVP of Development and manage the daily operations of our Development department.     Key Responsibilities:
    • Operational Management: Oversee daily administrative operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Executive Support: Provide executive-level support to the Associate Vice President of Development.
    • Systems Analysis: Analyze, design, and evaluate administrative systems for improved performance.
    • Policy Advisory: Advise on policies, procedures, and budgets to meet programmatic goals.
    • Resource Support: Serve as an internal and external resource for Development staff and leadership.
    • Pipeline Development and Program Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of the SDSU Annual Giving Circle, as well as other major gift pipeline projects, reporting, and analysis.
    • Collaboration: Work with University Relations, front-line fundraisers, and various campus stakeholders.
    • Engagement: Interact with SDSU leadership, donors, alumni, students, and volunteers.

    Position Information
    • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
    • This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
    • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Availability for events outside standard hours and potential travel as needed.)
    • This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

    Department Summary

    University Relations and Development (URAD) advances SDSU’s mission through strategic priorities like becoming a premier public research university, fostering resilience, promoting equity and inclusion, and centering students.

    URAD builds lasting relationships with alumni, parents, donors, students, and the community to generate private support for diverse programs. It offers services in stewardship, events, gift administration, and communications.

    In 2023-2024, URAD raised $131.9M, awarded 2,251 scholarships, and welcomed 5,006 first-time donors. The latest fundraising success can be credited to the university’s goal of building a world-class university campus, research center, and multi-use stadium in Mission Valley; all serving higher education, the public good, and the community’s goals and aspirations.

    Education and Experience

    Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

    Key Qualifications
    • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for accuracy.
    • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication abilities, including negotiation and persuasion skills.
    • Demonstrated track record of taking ownership for projects and implementing effective solutions.
    • Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, Google Suite, and various fundraising software platforms.
    • Willingness to attend events outside regular hours and travel as needed.
    • Three years of experience providing executive-level administrative support to senior leadership is preferred.
    • Proficient in budgeting, finance, and managing expenditures, with experience in development team operations is preferred.
    • Skilled in drafting and distributing donor communications across various mediums, including letters and email campaigns is preferred.

    Licenses/Certifications Required

    Valid California Driver's License within 10 days of hire.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,900 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,598 - $8,318 per month.
