  • Job Description

    THE POSITION

    Sell tickets to events occurring at the SAFE Credit Union Convention and Performing Arts District complex facilities.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
    Positions are limited to on-call assignments which do not exceed 1040 hours per year.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
    Supervision is provided by higher-level staff.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform related duties as needed:
    • Sell tickets to the public for scheduled events at the SAFE Credit Union Convention and Performing Arts District complex facilities.
    • Complete mail order transactions for tickets to events.
    • Advise customers as to availability and preferred seat locations.
    • Provide general information concerning scheduled events, availability and costs of tickets, and related information.
    • Maintain record of seat locations sold.
    • Calculate sales transactions and receive payment in the sale of tickets.
    • Prepare and balance summary sheet of daily receipts, by show.
    • Prepare reports and correspondence as necessary.
    • Other related duties may also be performed.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge of:

    • Computers and software programs (e.g. Microsoft software packages).
    • Techniques for providing a high-level of customer service.
    • Procedures related to the handling of cash and ability to accurately make cash transactions in a fast, efficient manner.

    Ability to:

    • Operate cash register and other equipment related to work performed.
    • Make accurate arithmetic calculations.
    • Read, write, and speak the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
    • Work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    • Work under pressure and stressful situations.


    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

    Experience:
    Three months of experience in the handling of cash receipts involving a high volume of sales of goods and services to the public.

    -AND-

    Education:
    None required.

    WORK CONDITIONS:
    Incumbents must perform shift work as assigned, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
    Incumbents will work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with moderate noise levels, dark/dim lighting. Incumbents may interact with upset patrons while enforcing policies and procedures.

    3. Screening Committee: (Pass/Fail) - All applications received by the final filing deadline will be forwarded to the hiring department for review. The hiring department will select the most competitive applications for further consideration. Human Resources will only evaluate employment applications for the minimum qualifications, as stated on the job announcement, for applications selected by the hiring department.

    4. Hiring Interview: Those candidates determined to be the MOST QUALIFIED will be invited to participate in an interview process coordinated by the hiring department. There will be no eligible list established , as positions will be seasonal and/or part-time. A hiring interview is not guaranteed.

    5. Conditional Hire: Upon receipt of a conditional offer, the selected candidate must complete and pass LiveScan /fingerprinting . If applicable, candidates may also need to pass a pre-employment medical exam, controlled substance and/or alcohol test, and possess any required licensure or certification prior to receiving a start date from the Department. Failure to meet these prerequisites will be grounds for withdrawal of your conditional offer of employment.

    The City of Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, was founded in 1849, and is the oldest incorporated city in California. In 1920, Sacramento City voters adopted a City Charter (municipal constitution) and a City Council-City Manager form of government, which are still used today.

    The City Council consists of a Mayor elected by all City voters, and Councilmembers elected to represent the eight separate Council districts in the City. This Charter Amendment also established the Mayor's position as a full-time job.
