    The Position

    Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.

    Under the general direction of the Administrative Services Officers (ASO), the incumbent will identify and analyze business needs of programs critical to the operations of the Administrative Services Division of the Nevada Department of Transportation. The incumbent will lead the review and update of prevailing wages including applicable amendments for the Contract Compliance section; assist in reviewing and writing of policies and procedures and submit required State and Federal reports; assist the ASOs in the analysis and preparation of the biennial and program budgets; produce trend data identifying past, current, and projected future financial needs and recommend funding allocations and justifications; develop and implement internal controls to accurately track and approve expenses throughout the year; and review, monitor, and research bills submitted to the Legislature impacting the Division and communicate potential implications.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

    European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
