    The Position

    Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

    This position will be located at the Department of Transportation HQ office Carson City within the Accounting Division, Payroll Section. This position will be the primary Payroll contact point for NDOT. This position is responsible for organizing, assigning, and responding to related inquiries as well as serve as liaison between NDOT Payroll, Central Payroll and Human Resources. Position oversees day to day duties such as payroll corrections, timesheet audits, deductions, administering NEATS permissions as well as compiling reports and maintaining logs for all actions taken.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements Travel up to 25% may be required. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria Do you have experience with NEATS or ADVANTAGE. Describe your experience with Microsoft Office.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
