    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

    Incumbents independently resolve many users' PC issues including email and applications problems and record calls using the help desk application. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights.

    The Nevada Department of Education, Office of Information Technology is seeking candidates for an IT Technician III position. The incumbent will assist users via the phone, email or chat to assist with Helpdesk Tickets. The IT Technician will manage and complete tickets entered into the Fresh Works Helpdesk System, by prioritizing and organizing tickets based on user needs; notate applied resolutions, complete and close out tickets. The incumbent will serve as remote desktop support operations for the Carson City and Las Vegas offices by providing desktop support; participate in the setup, configuration and maintenance of desktop computer applications, monitors, mobile devices, and peripheral accessories; perform basic simple connectivity troubleshooting and monitoring public teleconferencing meetings on a regular interval.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position is subject to call-out or call-back. This position has a 25% travel requirement. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
