    The Position

    Napa County is currently recruiting for one (1) full-time Account Clerk I (Bilingual Spanish Preferred) for the Probation Department. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term and extra help vacancies for up to 12 months from establishment date.

    About the Account Clerk Position & Probation Department:
    The Probation Department operates adult and juvenile court-related services in the areas of investigation and supervision with the mission to enforce court orders to inspire positive change, transform the live of offenders, victims, and families, and promote community safety. The Department is also responsible for the overall operation of the County’s Juvenile Hall, which provides custody, counseling, medical care and guidance of delinquent and custodial children in a variety of short- and medium-term programs.     This is the entry level in the Account Clerk series. The Account Clerk I performs routine financial clerical procedures for a County department or office, maintains basic financial and statistical records, performs general clerical work as required. Positions in this class perform tasks of a standardized and repetitive nature and are not expected to exercise independent judgment or engage in significant decision-making. Positions in this class may be in training for a broad range of financial procedures or may be assigned to a narrower range of routine duties. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Receive and account for monies paid to the County; keep records of cash transactions and receipts issued.
    • Type accounting and statistical reports or tables, payrolls, requisitions, employee time record, invoices, purchase orders and related fiscal documents.
    • Post financial data, either by hand or electronically using the County's financial system.
    • Assemble, match, sort, tabulate, check and file numerical data.
    • Check, balance and reconcile cash statements.
    • Assist with the processing of documents such as invoices, purchase orders, warrants and other records.
    • Operate office equipment.
    • May operate a computer terminal/console for the purpose of entering and retrieving information.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

    Pay & Benefits:
    • Hourly Rate: $26.63 (Step 1) - $31.30 (Step 5)

    Position Requirements:
    To qualify for the Account Clerk I classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
    • Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by basic bookkeeping or record keeping training.
    • License: Certain positions assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.
    *Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

    PLEASE NOTE: Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but is not required for this current vacancy.

    SALARY -
    Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
