Job Summary STARTING SALARY: Construction Inspector I-C: $25.21 - $32.15 hourly, depending on qualifications
Construction InspectorII-C: $26.63 - $33.955hourly, depending on qualifications
Construction InspectorIII-C: $28.28- $36.05hourly, depending on qualifications Performs responsible technical field inspection and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction, and renovation of buildings, structures, wastewater treatment facilities, and other public works projects. Work involves inspection of buildings and structures, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations, and requires considerable knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, building construction, or mechanical field as well as in depth knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances. Employees assigned to this classification must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the interpretation and application of codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree with construction-related coursework in area of assignment. All positions
require a valid Florida Driver's License and must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.
PLUMBING:
Construction Inspector I: Minimum of five (5) years experience in Plumbing work or a combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience totaling five (5) years.
Must be certified by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAI) as a Standard Inspector - Plumbing, or
must obtain a State of Florida Provisional Certification (Standard Inspector - Plumbing) within four (4) months of hire date.
Must obtain standard certificate within one (1) year of hire date.
Construction Inspector II: Minimum of seven to eight (7-8) years experience in Plumbing work or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience totaling seven to eight (7-8) years.
Must be certified by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAI) as a Standard Inspector - Plumbing. A valid Florida Driver's License is
required.
Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.
Construction Inspector III: Minimum of nine (9) years experience in building construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience totaling nine (9) years.
Must be certified by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAI) as a Standard Inspector - Plumbing. A valid Florida Driver's License is
required.
Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.
This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.
