    Positions available with the Human Resources Department, Administration Division located at 414 E 12th St
    Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

    Responsibilities

    The Senior Internal Investigator will be responsible for conducting thorough and timely investigations into potential workplace misconduct or policy violations within the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to attain a deep understanding of City and Department policies, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and interpret and apply them effectively. The Senior Internal Investigator will work collaboratively with management, employees, and union representatives to ensure fair and impartial investigations and recommendations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct timely and thorough investigations into potential workplace misconduct or policy violations of varying complexity.

    • Interpret and apply routine to semi-complex City and Department policies, as well as CBA provisions.

    • Prepare and submit written investigation reports and findings to the Division Manager or Deputy Director for review.

    • Assist in developing disciplinary actions and workplace recommendations based on investigation outcomes.

    • Collaborate in the development and facilitation of HR training for supervisors and employees regarding policy adherence and workplace conduct.

    • Develop data and metric reports to track investigation trends and outcomes.

    • Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees, union representatives, and management.

    • Apply strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to assess situations and determine appropriate actions.

    • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding all investigations and related information.

    • Travel to City-owned facilities as required to conduct investigations and gather information.

    Successful candidates will have the following skills:

    • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

    • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

    • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.

    • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.


    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional human resource experience in a business or public sector organization including 2 years experience at the level of Human Resources Specialist. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Preference given to candidates with experience in conducting employment investigations.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
