Full-time position available with the Fire Department, Fleet Division located at 5130 Deramus Ave
Salary Range: $42.00-$49.13/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday; 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Alternating shift duty with 24-hour on call responsibilities. Some work may be performed outside of normal business hours and on weekends

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance for everything over 15,000 GVW and a light duty shop responsible for everything under 15,000 GVW.
- Maintains and repairs more than $55 million in mobile equipment including fire pumpers, aerial trucks, ambulances, boats and passenger vehicles for the KCFD.
- Safely operates all vehicles, machinery and heavy equipment.
- Uses solid working knowledge of both gas and diesel engines along with welding and hydraulic experience.
- Handles the installation of specialized aftermarket equipment and electronics.
- Must be able to supply your own set of general service hand tools and adhere to the City of KCMO residency requirements.
- Experience with A/C recycling equipment, alignment machines, scan tools and PC based diagnostic platforms as well as diagnosing advanced electrical systems is essential.
Qualifications
REQUIRES 3 years of skilled experience in automotive repairs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience which may include the successful completion of an automotive repair trade school or the successful completion of a vocational technical program in automotive maintenance or completion of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification as a master automotive/truck technician. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid CDL. Must possess a valid State of Missouri Inspector Mechanic permit by the end of the probationary period. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
Preference given for mechanical experience with ambulance or fire apparatus or ASE and EVT certifications. Other Information

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
