    Overview

    Do you thrive on hands-on work and enjoy tackling various mechanical challenges?

    Larimer County is looking for a dedicated Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our Fleet team and work full-time at the landfill. If you enjoy tackling different types of vehicles and equipment and take pride in keeping things running smoothly, this could be the perfect role for you.

    In this job, you'll be the go-to person at the landfill, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all vehicles and equipment. Whether performing routine inspections or complex repairs, your work will be essential in keeping everything on track.

    Responsibilities

    Specifically, this position:
    • Works in all weather conditions.
    • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
    • Services and diagnoses brake systems, transmissions, differentials, front, and rear axle assemblies.
    • Diagnoses and repairs charging and electrical systems.
    • Strictly adhere to established safety guidelines and protocols.

    We are looking for a candidate with:
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
    • Ability to competently use diagnostic tools and equipment.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
    • Welding abilities (Structural welding abilities not necessary).


    Qualifications

    All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities or certification in auto or diesel technology from an accredited program.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
    • Possession of, and ability to maintain, a Class "B" CDL at the discretion of the Fleet Director, depending upon necessity and position, required.
