The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment (LCDHE) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communicable Disease and Emergency Preparedness and Response Manager to lead our efforts in managing disease outbreaks and enhancing emergency response strategies!

    Responsibilities

    Specifically this position:
    • Coordinates with medical providers, hospitals, and laboratories to detect and report cases of significant communicable disease and investigate the circumstances of each case.
    • Directs and coaches a team of epidemiologists, disease investigators, medical assistants and emergency preparedness professionals.
    • Serves as the subject matter expert of epidemiological design and statistical analysis and leads scientific and disease investigations.
    • Supervises the coordination of public health readiness and response to emergencies.

    We are looking for a candidate who will:
    • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and have proven experience managing large teams.
    • Have excellent working knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
    • Multi-task, problem-solve, negotiate, resolve conflict, and coordinate several projects simultaneously.
    • Ideally, hold a Master's degree in Public Health (or a closely related field), and have experience in disease control and emergency response.
    • Perform duties independently and without close supervision.


    Qualifications

    All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health, Public Health, Communicable Disease, Epidemiology, or Emergency Management related fields, required.
    • Three (3) years of experience working at a state or local public health agency, communicable disease, epidemiology, emergency preparedness, emergency management, or directly related field, with duties and similar responsibilities, required.
    • Two (2) years of supervisory experience, required.
    • Complete Incident Command System training, ICS 100, ICS 200 and NIMS within six (6) months of hire required
    • Complete ICS 300 and 400 within twelve (12) months of hire required.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
