    Summary

    Maintains grounds and landscape City of Lancaster facilities by performing the following duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists Horticultural Technician in training Parks staff on procedures that ensure efficient and safe completion of assigned work and projects.
    • Serves as Crew Leader on the designated job site to assess team performance, efficiency, productivity, and the progress of the work assigned.
    • Assists the Parks Foreman with administrative tasks, special projects, and supervision of the department work team while working on large, simultaneous, or numerous projects and tasks.
    • Responsible for ensuring all equipment maintenance and inspection are done prior to its use on a job site.
    • Cuts lawns within City parks, facilities, etc.
    • Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
    • Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
    • Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
    • Cleans grounds and removes litter.
    • Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
    • Waters plants, shrubs, flowers, etc.
    • Shovels snow and ice from City facility walks and parking lots during inclement weather.
    • Spreads salt on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup during inclement weather.
    • Cleans and inspects City parks restroom facilities and makes sure that rented facilities are in good repair.
    • Maintains equipment, which includes washing, service, and inspection of equipment on a regular basis.
    • Provides direct support for special events conducted at area parks as required.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    A valid Class B (CDL) Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required for this position. Driving is a requirement of this position.
