    Position: Custodial Worker, Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD)

    Reports to: Building Administrator Department: Elementary and Secondary Education

    Classification: School Term, Support Office: Special Education

    or 12-month, Support

    Location: MSSD Section: Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled

    Pay Range: SS1 Job Group: 802

    Primary responsibilities are cleaning the building and maintaining the school grounds.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The incumbent must have the ability to perform the essential functions below either with or without reasonable accommodations.

    Maintain interior of facilities to a high level of cleanliness/sanitation and safety. Responsible for routine maintenance of all custodial and grounds equipment. Keep accurate inventory of supplies and equipment and notify building administrator of items to be ordered. Knowledge of and perform work in compliance with Asbestos Hazards Emergency Response Act. Maintain and perform work in compliance with material Safety Data Sheets for all chemicals used. Maintaining grounds, cutting grass and snow removal, if necessary. Prepare comprehensive prioritized cleaning/maintenance schedules (daily/weekly/monthly tasks). Provide training for other custodians in use of equipment and cleaning supplies. Demonstrate effective problem solving and decision making. Follow behavior support plans of individual students. Lift and move 75 pounds. Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and personally identifiable information. Maintain CPR certification at the level determined by the American Heart Association or Red Cross as Basic Life Support Health Care Providers. Participate in staff development as necessary to keep custodial skills updated and current. Follow student specific special health care procedures as trained and assigned by the school nurse. Follow custodial skills development training plans for individual students as needed. Utilize each student’s individual communication system. Infrequent travel for training and staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED:

    High School diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of two years experience in custodial service.

    (Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position, may be accepted in lieu of the above.)
