    As Network Technician I within the Department of Information Technology, your primary role will encompass the duties of an experienced desktop technician, involving a diverse range of responsibilities. You will actively collaborate with Network Administrators on projects, be exposed to support for servers, and engage in some cloud services. Working seamlessly with cross-functional teams, you will directly interface with end users on a regular basis.     The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months and may also be used for countywide openings.

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Requirement: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.

    Any combination of education, experience, and certifications that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

    Education: Possession of an Associate's of Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science or information processing OR completion of 24 semester units or 36 quarter units in computer science or information systems

    Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience performing computer and network systems equipment installation duties.

    Certifications: Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) or other similar credentials.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or related certifications.
    • Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies
    • Programming Skills: Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
    • Security Frameworks: Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS to ensure comprehensive security measures.
    • Vendor Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Tanium Certified Operator, vendor-specific certifications, Tesira Certifications, Crestron Certifications, Dante Digital Audio Certification Levels 1 - 3.
    • Audio Visual Expertise: Deep experience in designing, supporting, and innovating audio-visual equipment or spaces. Including both indoor meeting spaces and outdoor events.


    Selection Process

    Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.Online Multiple-Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online multiple-choice assessment . The assessment will be conducted online to measu re candidates' competencies as they relate to the Network Technician I classification. These may include but are not limited to: Critical Thinking, Professional and Technical Expertise, Attention to Detail, and Customer Focus. (Weighted 100%). Final Selection Interviews: Will be scheduled by the department once the eligible list is established. If you apply for another recruitment that uses this exam and the test is scheduled within 6 months of the date you took the test this time, you will not have the option to re-take the exam.
