    Minimum Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:

    Engineer A:
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.


    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.



    Engineer B:
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus six (6) years of experience in engineering acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.



    Engineer C:
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.

    Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.
    Notes to Applicants
    The Transportation Development Services Division provides comprehensive review services to developers, applicants, and their consultants regarding all transportation aspects associated with proposed developments or redevelopments. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for performing highly complex engineering functions, including all aspects of transportation planning and engineering associated with zoning, subdivision, site plan, planned unit development( PUD ), and any other development or re-developments.

    This position will lead a team of engineers and planners in transportation development projects in the City of Austin for reviewing proposed developments’ compliance with the city code, ordinances, criteria manuals, established engineering design manuals, and guidelines. In addition to reviewing the code/manual compliance, this position will also review multi-modal transportation impact analysis, active mode analysis, transportation demand management analysis, transit connectivity analysis, access management, and safety analysis associated with many development projects.

    This position is also responsible for creating and reviewing policies, plans, and other documents to implement council-approved codes and ordinances that will impact transportation development within the City of Austin. In addition, this position will take a lead role in the implementation of the street impact fee. This position will also have significant interactions with the public, internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials.

    Travel:
    If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

    A: $39.49 - $51.34
    B: $42.26 - $54.94

    • Proficiency in teamwork and problem-solving skills with internal and external members to accomplish organizational goals.
    • Ability to provide technical input and strategic direction to multiple work teams by coordinating across TPW divisions, City departments, stakeholders, and partner agencies.
    • Experience/comfortability speaking in front of boards/commissions.
    • Ability to travel to more than one work location.

    City Government
