    The Role:
    The Cybersecurity Engineer will design, implement, and monitor security measures to protect our computer systems, networks, and data. This role involves proactive identification of potential threats and immediate response to security incidents to safeguard the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s data.

    What You’ll Do:
    Keep in mind that this list is not all-inclusive.
    • Design, implement, and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols.
    • Monitor networks and systems for security breaches using automated tools and manual methods.
    • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
    • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
    • Investigate security incidents and provide detailed reports on findings, including recommendations for preventing future incidents.
    • Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technology solutions.
    • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the security of applications and systems throughout their lifecycle.
    • Provide training and awareness programs for Ambassadors on security best practices and policies.
    • Assist in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.


    What We’re Looking For:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable
    • Proven experience in a cybersecurity role, with a strong understanding of security protocols, systems, and methodologies
    • Proficiency with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, anti-virus software, and vulnerability management systems
    • Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS), and application security
    • Experience with incident response and digital forensics
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to:
      • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues with elevator/escalator monitoring systems (Kone)
      • Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
      • Perform in a multi-project development environment and meet deadlines and schedules
      • Constantly lift and move 10 lbs., frequently lift and move up to 20 lbs., occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
      • Work outside of regular business hours when required
    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholdersExperience with Cisco FirePower/FMC, Cisco Umbrella, Cisco Secure Client (including VPN) and Cisco XDR preferred Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulations (e.g., SOC2, PCI-DSS, etc.) preferred Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.) for automation and security tool integration preferred
