    About University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB

    (This is not a state position)

    University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

    Position Summary

    Temporary, Part Time, Benefited position through 10/31/2027 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

    Salary: $23.00 per hour.

    Location: CSUSB Campus.

    Work Schedule

    30 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 10:30AM-5:30PM. Some nights and weekend work may be required.

    Typical Activities

    Under minimal supervision of the Director of the Basic Needs & Student Support Center, the Wellness Coach will work independently to:

    Outreach, Screen, Resources Assistance and Support
    • Develop an understanding of all Basic Needs & Student Support services and programs intake procedures such as Swipe Out Hunger, CalFresh Outreach, CalFresh Healthy Living, Emergency Grant program, and Emergency Housing program, Student direct aid, and more.
    • Develop an understanding of CalFresh program policies and procedures.
    • Outreach to our most vulnerable student groups over the phone and in-person, to create awareness and education about the CalFresh food benefits.
    • Educate students on eligibility for the basic needs services and provide intake assistance and support as necessary.
    • Educate students on eligibility for the CalFresh benefits and provide pre-screening, application assistance and support as necessary.
    • Provide case management for student requiring completing application process and maintain benefits.
    • Facilitate classroom and/or group presentations.
    • Facilitate group informational sessions.

    Student Data Management, Tracking and Coaching
    • Track all basic needs intake activities, CalFresh outreach activities, basic need pre-screens, CalFresh applications submitted, outcomes, and other basic needs data.
    • Track intake and referrals to other basic needs programming.
    • Maintain a student caseload of accurate records and information.
    • Log student summary notes in the Basic Needs Care Unit.
    • Refer students to additional resources available through the Basic & Needs & Student Support Center and the integrated Holistic Support.
    • Responds timely to department inquiries and messages via a returned telephone call or email accordingly.
    • Maintain student confidentiality.

    Operations
    • Maintain the daily operations of Basic Needs & Student Support Center, assists in managing the department calendars, correspondence, center opening and closing duties, and department organization.
    • Maintain utilization records of basic needs services in the Basic Needs & Student Support Center including student self-check-in, processing donations, processing incentive gifts, track case notes, performing data entry, and logging student summary notes in the Basic Needs Care Unit.
    • Maintain snack inventory, quality control, and rotation of personal care items in accordance with policies and procedures.
    • Keep space and storage area clean and organized, including wiping down shelving, and workstations, organizing and stocking, and neatness in the center.
    • Maintain crowd control during busy times in the Basic Needs & Student Support Center.
    • Answers incoming calls using professional telephone etiquette and retrieves voicemail daily.
    • Handles the paper mail and routes as appropriate.
    • Disseminate center information and respond to phone calls, emails, and walk-ins.
    • Create newsletters and announcement letters.
    • Plays a key role assisting a high volume of RSVP replies and exhibits a pleasant and courteous manner in all communications with students and guests.
    • Replenishes office supplies including note cards, letterhead, outreach materials etc., to ensure that ample inventory is available for staff.

    General

    • Attend staff meetings and all required training as scheduled.

    • Work on special projects as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Education: Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
    • Experience: Two years of experience in a variety of student or social service programs.
    • Other:
      • Responsibilities and Expectations:

        • Assume responsibility for understanding and learning about all basic needs services and program offered in the department.

        • Assume responsibility for understanding and learning about CalFresh benefits.

        • Assume responsibility to educate and connect students to basic needs services they may be eligible to recieve.

        • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding barriers faced by students in accessing and maintaining CalFresh benefits

        • Lead training with team regarding ways to strengthen connecting students to basic needs services to support the whole student basic needs.

        Knowledge Required:

        • Knowledge of the challenges faced by undergraduate college students and the ability to assist students in navigating this environment.

        • Knowledgeable of college student basic needs concerns and the best practices for individual, community, and system well-being.
