The Position

Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II with the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF North) in Sparks NV. This is a full-time position that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours in a week. PRTF North is a psychiatric residential treatment facility that serves youth ages 12 through 17 with serious emotional disturbances who have complex needs across multiple domains. This position will perform billing, case management, intake, and discharge services. Incumbents will lead youth through individual and group activities. This position will work with parents and provide parent training, parent coaching, and intensive case management services. This position will coordinate and obtain community services for clients, develop, and revise individual and program behavior modification techniques, and provide crisis intervention. Incumbents will actively participate in committee meetings, treatment team meetings, and child and family team meetings. There is an emphasis on utilizing a person-centered approach and being family driven when creating plans and working with youth and families. This position will also perform quality assurance pieces, which requires knowledge in policies and procedures, laws, and licensing regulations. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Requirements Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required and is a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
