    Qualifications

    Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    Education/Training:
    • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
    Experience:
    • One year of full-time clerical experience involving heavy public contact while performing multiple tasks.
    • Two years of full-time experience as a Police Dispatcher with a law enforcement agency equivalent to the City of Brentwood's Police Dispatcher I.
    License/Certificate:
    • Possession of a California Peace Officer Standard and Training (POST) Public Safety Dispatchers Certificate at time of hire.
    • Possession of a typing certificate verifying the ability to accurately type a minimum of 45 wpm.
    Other Requirements:
    • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
    • Must be able to pass a comprehensive law enforcement background check.
    Knowledge of:
    • Techniques, policies, methods, terminology, and procedures used in the operation of a modern law enforcement dispatch center.
    • Law enforcement agency procedures and methods for providing services and information including those related to collecting, maintaining, and releasing information, files, and documents.

    Application Process

    Applicants must submit the following:

Resumes may also be submitted but it is not a substitute for a completed application. This recruitment is open until filled .

    The examination process will consist of:

    Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted. All applicants that pass minimum qualifications will be placed on the Eligible List which will be used by the Brentwood Police Department to conduct panel interviews with the leadership team.

    The best qualified candidates will then be invited to participate in a CritiCall examination. Top scoring candidates will be invited to participate in a polygraph exam. Top candidates from the polygraph exam will be invited to the Captains interview.

    Top candidates will move to the background process. Upon completion of the background, a conditional job offer can be made, and candidates will be scheduled for medical and psychological evaluations. The employment offer is contingent upon successful completion of these evaluations.
