The Position

Child Care Workers assist in preschool programs designed for care of children and for stimulation of their social, emotional, academic, and physical development.

Incumbents perform the full range of child care duties. Additionally, Child Care Worker II's participate and assist in the development of programs and curriculum, in collaboration with professional staff, and may serve as a lead worker for students and other personnel. Incumbents assist in developing programs and curriculum by working with supervising teachers and writing curriculum within articulated parameters in subject areas of the Nevada Pre-Kindergarten Standards to include Language/Early Literacy, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Creative Arts, Physical Development and Health. Lesson plans and activities are reviewed and approved prior to implementation. This class is distinguished from the Child Care Worker I level by the participation in program curriculum development and by greater involvement and interaction with children and parents.

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Child Care Worker 2 (CCW) position with the Early Childhood Day Treatment Program in Reno, Nevada. The Early Childhood Mental Health Day Treatment Program provides relationship-focused, trauma-informed day treatment services to children ages three to six years old. The program provides extensive and ongoing training in evidence-based social and emotional learning/development models, trauma-informed care, emotional regulation skills, and infant and early childhood mental health. The CCW works with a collaborative team of classroom and infant/early childhood professionals. Classroom ratios will be maintained to 1 adult to 2 children. Daily and weekly opportunities for reflective supervision and debriefing will be provided. The CCW assists in developing and maintaining the program to include: providing guidance and assistance as needed in early childhood day treatment classrooms; providing active supervision and guidance during daily transportation of children to and from the program; implementing to fidelity of social/emotional learning/development, trauma-informed care, and relationship-focused models of treatment within a cooperative and collaborative classroom/treatment team; active engagement in reflective supervision and practice throughout program. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience working with small children in a preschool setting; OR one year of experience as a Child Care Worker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
