Pay Range: $ 75,200 - $ 89,576 annual compensation

A Landscape Architect job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department - Planning & Resource Management Division. This position reports to the Landscape Architect Manager. Assigned projects may range from traditional park development projects to specialized facilities such as trails, major athletic complexes, aquatic facilities, golf courses and community centers.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Landscape Architecture or a related field
  • Three years of responsible experience in landscape architecture and park and recreation design
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain registration as a licensed Landscape Architect in the State of Texas is required within six months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcView or other geographic information system (GIS) program experience.
  • Additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certification as it relates to the position.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) computer skills.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification

The Landscape Architect job responsibilities include:
  • Work with Senior Landscape Architect Manager and Field Operations Superintendent in development and updating of Small Capital Construction Crew annual schedule. Monitor and inspect in-house construction projects for quality and compliance to all local, State and Federal development guidelines.
  • Management of a diverse portfolio of projects simultaneously and set priorities to ensure work is completed on schedule and within budgetary constraints.
  • Development and review of park improvement plans and specifications, establishing project schedules, determining consultant scope of services and evaluation of consultant proposals.
  • Management and reporting of project schedules and budgets.
  • Administration of the public bidding and award process upon completion of the design.
  • Working with construction inspectors to oversee the contractor’s work during construction phase to ensure projects follow design plans and to address unforeseen constructability issues.
  • Working with the project management team and other park staff to resolve complex design problems related to park construction and stewardship of resources.
  • Organizing and conducting public meetings for park master planning and discussion of other park related issues
  • Direct supervision of Park Planner, providing project assignments, oversight, guidance, review and personnel annual evaluations. Responsible for project assignments, to include but not limited to in-house design work for scheduling of Small Capital Construction Crew - estimated at $1M per fiscal year.
