St. Charles Habilitation Center currently has an opening for a Supervising Support Care Assistant position designated for On-the-job training (OJT) for Support Care Assistant (SCA) staff. The selected applicant will mainly work the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm with Saturday/Sunday and state approved holidays as regular days off. This position requires flexibility and is expected to work other shifts, as needed, to meet the needs of the facility.

  • Job Duties:

    This position will be responsible for providing OJT training and supervision for new and/or seasoned SCA’s by utilizing formal training manuals specific to the consumers served. The position will be responsible for providing ongoing SCA training throughout the year based on client care, direct work performance observations and daily operations in the homes. This position will work closely with a multitude of interdisciplinary teams i.e.: Treatment Manager, Treatment Supervisor, Support Care Professional, Quality Improvement and Staff Development, providing a hands-on approach to training. This person will also serve as a mentor for new Senior SCA/Lead workers and for those that may wish to become a Senior SCA in the future.



All you need for success as a Supervising Support Care Assistant:

A minimum 2 years of experience with direct care with individuals who are primarily diagnosed with developmental disabilities and a knowledge of facility practices, rules, and regulations; and methods and techniques of supervision. Ability to evaluate the work of assigned staff.

Current Supervising SCA’s should be free of discipline for six months. Staff seeking to promote to this position should be free of discipline for twelve months.

This position will be filled with the most qualified candidate after consideration of each applicant’s interview, work experience, work performance, training and other background information.
