This is a DORS Central Office position that will service the Probation and Parole Eastern Region. The physical office location will be within the Eastern Region.

This is NOT a remote position

The Regional Behavioral Health Specialist (RBHS) helps clients under department supervision by supporting Probation and Parole Officers in working with their client’s behavioral health needs (mental health, substance use and recovery, and treatment related to sexual offenses). The RBHS serves as a resource and liaison, but does not provide direct client services.

Help Probation and Parole Officers understand their clients’ behavioral health issues and assist them in gaining and maintaining access to services.

Provide information on behavioral health and related resources in their assigned region.

Help coordinate continuity of care for placement, records requests, and information sharing as needed.

Review and interpret behavioral health screenings and records as needed.

Provide behavioral health information and occasional training for Department staff.

Assist with presentations, trainings, and outreach as appropriate, including Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.

Serve as a liaison between Department staff and community providers and other stakeholders.

Participate in Department and community meetings and workgroups as needed.

Collaborate with community resources, specialty courts, and other diversion programs as needed.

This position is supervised by the Behavioral Health Coordinator, Division of Offender Rehabilitative Services (DORS)

Minimum Qualifications:

Four or more years of professional experience in counseling, social work, or related field, and be license or certification eligible*.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Corrections, law enforcement, or criminal justice experience preferred, but not required.

*We do not require that you hold a license/certificate for employment, only that you are eligible for a MO State Behavioral Health License/Certificate in mental health, social work, substance use, etc., per the qualifications set by the MO Credentialing Board.

Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.
