The Job

This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special Districts employees who hold a regular, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, Work Experience Program (WEX), or intern position. Your County employment must be clearly listed on the work experience section of your application.

The Probation Department is recruiting for Supervising Probation Officers who perform a wide variety of departmental supervisory duties including organize, assign, review and evaluate work performed by Probation Officers and assigned staff. Incumbents conduct orientation or in-service training; explain and interpret departmental policies and procedures; assess staff development needs and confer with Division Directors regarding assignment of personnel, workload, employee performance and unit problems.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Availability: May be assigned to institutions or special programs and may be assigned shift or variable work, including weekend and holiday hours.
Peace Officer Status: Have peace officer status and must be willing to complete the department's arming training and accept an armed position.

Background: Must meet peace officer requirements (P.C. 832) and pass an extensive background investigation.

License: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience as a Probation Officer III.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse experience as a probation officer with a current Peace Officer status to include experience in juvenile, adult, and administrative assignments, leadership skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team, who demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be willing to accept an armed position.
