The Position

Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.

Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.

This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division, under Agency IT Services and is located in Carson City, NV. The Program Officer is primarily tasked with providing first tier help desk support for HR applications to include effective communication; problem solving; researching and troubleshooting issues reported by customers; routing customer calls appropriately; and accommodating the needs of the customer. This position supports most state agencies and the public. Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating, and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines. This Program Officer is also responsible for maintaining and updating the ITSM database and generating Monthly Manager Reports. Additional duties include assisting with functional acceptance testing of application upgrades and fixes as well as assessing software in the test environment prior to release in the production environment. Testing requires understanding workflows within the system to ensure that functionality still works after implementing updates. They communicate any downtime due to system enhancements, scheduled maintenance, or technical issues promptly and in coordination with management. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check is required as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
