Job Description

Job Location: This position will be located at 301 W. High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Why you'll love this position: This professional position is responsible for a variety of Risk Management and General Services support functions such as accounting; maintenance of files and records; requisitioning, procurement of supplies and equipment; and approval of requisitions for payment of operating expenses.

  • Enter claims into the Legal Expense Fund (LEF) system upon receipt of accident notice
  • Process payments for property and motor vehicle claims, settlements, and judgments; ensure appropriate documentation is obtained to support payment requests; mail payment to claimants.
  • Manage the Risk Management telephone line.
  • Monitor the balance of LEF appropriation and process transfer documents.
  • Maintain reports and documentation on claim costs and report to Risk Management leadership team.
  • Deposit checks into the LEF; track deposits, cancellations and adjust transfers as necessary.
  • Stay abreast of changes to organization codes, appropriation numbers and House bill numbers for the LEF.
  • Archive LEF files, as appropriate.
  • Encumber funds and process payments to workers’ compensation vendors; maintain documentation on invoices paid and monitor usage of the applicable contract.
  • Procure and monitor usage of office supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Provide administrative and financial services support to General Services programs, as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

Requires 2-4 years of professional experience in areas of risk management, workers’ compensation, underwriting, accounting or in the administration of commercial insurance. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Ability to think critically and solve issues. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and develop solutions for unique situations. Must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships and interact professionally with staff, claimants, states agencies, contracted adjusters, attorneys, and others in the field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SAMII and Missouri BUYS.
  • Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skill in the operation of office equipment.
  • Ability to organize work assignments.
