Why you’ll love this position:

As a Senior Systems Administration Specialist, this individual will report to the Infrastructure Manager of the State Data Center. This position will supervise teams supporting the State Data Center's server support team; responsible for overseeing Windows, Linux, and OS patching environments. This position will also work with their Manager and teams to develop planning and implementation for hardware life-cycle management. This includes researching technologies, working with vendors to build architecture, and obtaining quotes to assist with budget and planning for the Infrastructure services team.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD), State Data Center (SDC).

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor 6 - 8 system administrators of various career levels.
  • Promote knowledge, growth, and expertise through cross-training and collaboration.
  • Help develop and promote standard operating procedures, as well as security standards.
  • Establish and maintain healthy relationships with other functional areas of ITSD, as well as business partners.
  • Work with the ITSD Network Operation Center to provide reports and updates on outages for business-critical systems until a resolution is reached.
  • Develop and maintain reports on hardware management life-cycle, resources available/used, and operating systems tracking.


  • General knowledge of VMWare vSphere and ESXi.
  • General knowledge of Dell PowerEdge, Powervault, and Cisco UCSx hardware platforms.
  • General knowledge of computing resources in AWS, Azure and GCP environments is highly desired.
  • General knowledge of tools to assist in automation of processes such as Ansible Tower, RHEL Satellite, etc.
  • Experience working with Windows and Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
  • Experience with project management, knowledge of methodologies and best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead a team, provide direction, and take initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work demands.
