The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor performs supervisory and skilled technical work overseeing facility maintenance crews. Employee is responsible for supervising maintenance and repair of various County buildings and facilities. Work involves supervising and participating in construction and maintenance of buildings, and inspecting work performed. This position also inspects work sites to ensure use of proper safety precautions. Employee is also responsible for determining and obtaining equipment, tools, and materials necessary to perform assignments and performing routine personnel administration functions pertaining to subordinates.

Examples of Duties

Assigns, directs and supervises activities of County overseeing facility maintenance crews. Ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures and standards; ensures safety by enforcing proper policies and procedures. Meet with County employees and Elected Officials to determine job scope.
Administers routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, granting leave, appraising, disciplining, etc., submitting such records and reports to management as required.
Determines priorities among budgeted maintenance projects, based on proper allocation of manpower, equipment and materials.
Purchases equipment, tools and materials necessary for maintenance projects within budget limitations.
Oversees proper use and maintenance of equipment, tools and materials; maintains proper inventories of consumable materials and supplies.
Schedules and oversees all daily work assignments of employees; completes daily reports as necessary.
Inspects work sites for quality of work as well as for compliance with all established laws, policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
Review plans for new builds and renovations.
Estimate job schedule and determines materials and equipment needed.
Calculates material cost for projects and ensure the project cost stay within budget.
Train employees on proper tool use and construction methods.
Supervises the cleaning of the shop and equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
Obtains bids from vendors and contractors as necessary.
Communicates with vendors to coordinate delivery of supplies needed to complete scheduled job.
Maintains an on call status to respond to emergency and non-emergency situations as necessary.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and a minimum six years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check.
