Job Summary Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all Bryan Texas Utilities ( BTU ) power plant electrical equipment, control systems, and instrumentation at Roland C. Dansby Power Plant.
Roland C. Dansby Power Plant is the primary natural gas-fired resource for Bryan Texas Utilities ( BTU ). The power plant is a three-unit power plant consisting of a 110MW gas-fired steam turbine and two 48MW simple-cycle gas turbines with a total capacity of 206MW. The power plant acts as a physical hedge for BTU’s power supply and is used as a peaking to intermediate resource.
Essential Job Functions - Working with voltages ranging from 24 VDC to 69,000 VAC , inspects, maintains, repairs and tests electrical equipment in electric system including switchgear, circuit breakers, magnetic starters, transformers, generators, batteries, voltage regulators, electric motors and control systems.
- Maintains PLC’s, boiler flame management and controls systems, as well as steam and combustion turbine control systems.
- Maintains Continuous Emissions Monitoring Equipment.
- Inspects, calibrates, troubleshoots and repairs electrical and instrumentation circuits, replacing components as needed.
- Installs new conduit and wiring, replacing defective wiring as needed.
- Instructs plant personnel in the use of safety equipment and safe work methods in and near electrical contact work areas.
- Works closely with plant operations to identify and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues.
- Discusses equipment issues with vendors and contractors; orders parts when needed.
- Prepares written reports and maintains records for regulatory, operations, and maintenance activities.
- Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma/ GED . Additional trade or college coursework in electronics or instrumentation is a plus.
- At least 5 years of electrical, electronics, or instrumentation related work experience.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, certification, and training may be considered.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
