City Manager - Nevada, Missouri

Nevada, Missouri (pop. 8205) is a vibrant, historic city located about 90 miles south of Kansas City. The City boasts a charming downtown area with unique shops, local eateries, and seasonal festivals, and a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities and cultural events.

Nevada is seeking a City Manager to oversee the comprehensive planning, direction, and supervision of all municipal employees and ensure the efficient administration of City policies and affairs, as well as spearhead policy development and implementation. The next City Manager will have the exciting opportunity to assess Nevada’s current priorities and develop a new vision and strategic set of short- and long-term goals for the organization and the community, to include continuing the revitalization of Downtown Nevada and establishing a formalized annual capital improvements program.

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or other closely related field. A master’s degree and International City Manager Association Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM) or similar certifications are desired. Candidates should possess a minimum of five to seven years’ professional experience with a minimum of three years in senior management in a public, private, or nonprofit entity of similar size and complexity of operations. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000 depending upon qualifications and experience. Additionally, the incumbent will receive a $500 monthly car allowance, a cell phone allowance, and paid individual health insurance. Paid sick leave and vacation are also provided. Reimbursement for professional organization fees and relocation reimbursement is negotiable. The future city manager will be required to reside within City limits.
